Jock coe medal
Gordon M 'Jock' Coe joined the New Town District Club in 1943, and played in the 1940's and 1950's.
He was a medium pacer who could maintain an immaculate length and exploit any assistance from the wicket. He claimed 485 first grade wickets at an average of 16.11.
He performed the role of Club Coach and was a member of the Premier League for over 30 years. He also performed the role of Secretary for the Club for 13 years and also became a member of the TCA in 1947.
In 1958 he was conferred Life Membership of the NTDCC and stood as an umpire for the 1960-61 season.
Jock moved to Melbourne, came out of retirement and began an 8 year association with the Box Hill Cricket Club.
In 1978 he returned to New Town, serving on the general committee and as a club delegate to the TCA during his term as Club President from 1978-1983.
Jock was appointed Patron of New Town in 1999-2000 and the highest individual award for the Club 1st Grade player is named in his honour.
