J. E. OXLEY AWARD
John Oxley was a competent wicket keeper in a first grade Premiership Team.
'Oker' as he was commonly known had several roles in his time at the Club.
After his first grade career was over, he played down in the lower grades and captained second grade. He later became Club Coach and Chairman of Selectors. John also had a stint as the Club's Treasurer.
After John's premature passing with Leukaemia whilst still an active Club member his family donated a sum of money to be invested for the purpose of having a Trophy awarded in John's honour.
As John was very passionate about his love of the Club and along with his very strong views on hard but fair play, the Club decided to name this award 'The Club Person of the Year' for the recipient to be acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to the Club either on or off the field of play.
Mr. Oxley was made a Life Member in 1979.
